A parking lot in Copenhagen?

IMG_1113Boarding the ferry from Aarhus to Odden we bid farewell to the peace of Jutland and after a 75 minute ferry crossing and  90 minute drive we arrived in busy Copenhagen. The campsite was an interesting one. A concrete lock up in the middle of a building site next to the power station. The gate was closed although we could see two German camper vans inside. I called the owner who said to let ourselves in and he would see us in the morning. It all looked very dodgy, not, of course the German neighbours! The site had no facilities or electrical hook up but it was free and only a 10-minute cycle away from Copenhagen. Cycling on Copenhagen’s busy roads was quite stressful. Crossing wide roads full of traffic on a bike took all your concentration. Stress levels increased when we manage to lose one another. Unfortunately, Graeme had the bag with my phone and purse. I have learnt that Copenhagen must be one of the safest, least criminal cities in the world as during that 40 minutes I did not see one policeman or policewoman. By some amazing stroke of luck we found one another. Now you would have thought that we would have been pleased to have located each other?  Thankfully the recriminations didn’t last long and we were soon relaxing (and shivering) on a boat trip sailing around the rivers and canals built by the Dutch in the 17th Century at the request of the then royal family.
