A Capital Move

Easy like Sunday Morning- Wifi & MacMuffin

After a few days of unrelenting rain, we decided to move to Helsinki to be nearer to a spot of action and, as I am flying back to the UK, to be closer to the airport.  We spent the first night in a car park by the river on one of the islands close to the mainland. The following morning, we spent in MacDonalds, purely for the wifi, (well just the one egg and bacon MacMuffin!). For the afternoon we called into the local Ikea to buy me a suitcase, something we hadn’t thought we would need. The Ikea is the largest I’ve seen and as a result it took much longer than normal to find our way out. Not quite the action we were hoping for. We headed to the closest campsite to the airport and this is where I sit writing this blog.

The campsite is not the rural idyll we had become used to and the general ambience is not helped by the incessant rain. All the facilities are in slightly dilapidated wooden huts reminiscent of Colditz. I half expect to see men walking around with earth trickling out of the bottom of their trousers. According to the weather forecast the sun is due to come out soon and I’m sure a walk to the waterside will raise the spirits……. in fact the sun has now appeared I will sign off in search of a brighter, dryer aspect.
