Wild Camping

IMG_1222Our first night of wild camping passed by uneventfully and to celebrate we drove to the nearest Spar shop and bought fresh rolls for breakfast ( and use the toilets!). The landscape continued to amaze and we found another stunning spot to eat our rolls and brew a coffee. The roads are mostly devoid of traffic and athough the occasional huge lorry speeding towards you can be daunting, in most places it is wide enough to accommodate two way traffic. After five hours we reached the town of Tonstad, the main town for the region of Sirdal. The town has a delightful little square with benches, barbeque drums for community use and rather astoundingly, heated, clean public toilets. A find indeed! We decided to stay close to this facility and parked for the night behind the local garage, again with amazing views, this time across lake Sirdalsvatn, a mere 32kms long. After an early morningĀ  visit to the super warm loos we were on the road to Stavanger.
